JOB DESCRIPTION

The Carrboro Police Department strives to provide the citizens of Carrboro with excellent service and response. Our Department places great emphasis on Community Oriented Policing in order to improve communications between the Police Department and our citizens. Officers work 12-hour rotating shifts with 3-days off bi-weekly.

Duties include:

  • Respond to emergency situations
  • Locate and apprehend violators of local, state and federal laws
  • Enforce motor vehicle laws
  • Serve Arrest Warrants
  • Participate in narcotics investigations
  • Investigate crimes and process crime scenes
  • Investigate traffic accidents
  • Testify in various courts
  • Execution of search warrants
  • Develop and participate in various community programs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • United States Citizenship
  • Minimum age of 20
  • Valid N.C. driver’s license or the ability to obtain one upon employment
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must undergo physical, psychological and polygraph examinations and drug testing as mandated by the State
  • Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Certification preferred
  • Possess outstanding moral character and the ability to make sound judgements in stressful situations.
